Family hike: Mountain Pine Trail
The scent of adventure, a real safari: you'll learn so much new stuff!
From Stöffl, you'll head up and down across open alpine meadows, then through a sparse forest heading south, passing the path that leads to the Totenkirchl and also the turn-off to the Moar in Plun Alm. We'll stay higher up, and then comes the exciting part: follow the signs for "Latschenweg – Sentiero Pino Mugo" until you reach the Marzuner Schupfe and take a deep breath – enjoy the scent of the mountain pines! At the Marzuner Schupfe, you won't just enjoy the view; there's also a demonstration distillery in operation! Here you can experience firsthand how fragrant essential oil is extracted. During the demonstration, you'll get an insight into the mysterious world of plant processing.
If you thought learning and hiking only happened in dry textbooks or on boring educational trails, you're dead wrong! The Mountain Pine Trail is super suitable for a family hike with kids and living proof that you can have a blast while hiking: finally no "Are we there yet?" questions, because this is basically an outdoor school where the fun factor is so high that you almost forget you're learning. Who knows, maybe you'll come back as mountain pine experts and can impress your friends with your knowledge at the next BBQ!
