Barbian – Stöffl – Getrumalm
Alpine reward: sea of flowers and adrenaline included
The next mountain saga begins in Barbian. From here, you'll pass a charming wayside shrine and continue towards the Sambergerhof. You can pedal quite relaxed until then, enjoying superb views of the Isarco Valley. On the opposite side of the valley lie Völs, Kastelruth, and the Dolomites – with stars like the imposing Sciliar and the legendary Sassolungo and Sassopiatto.
At the Sambergerhof, the warm-up ends, and the serious part begins: the path gets steep, and you can look forward to a challenging ascent that stretches for about 5 km, leading you directly to the Stöffl. Your thighs will either love you or curse you, depending on your fitness level! If you're lucky, you'll be rewarded on the Villanderer Alm with a beautiful flower meadow, where arnica and other rare mountain plants stretch their heads towards the sun – a feast for the eyes and the bees! The view is magnificent anyway, as you probably already know.
From the Stöffl, you'll continue to the Getrumalm, and here it gets really exciting again: a thrilling trail awaits you, providing a good dose of adrenaline. If you don't get goosebumps here, you probably have the pulse of a sloth! And if the weather cooperates and your thirst for adventure isn't quenched yet, the Getrumsee (Lake Getrum) and the Getrumspitze (2,589 m) are very close by, which you can also include. A little tip: after that, you're guaranteed to feel like the kings of the mountains!
