Summit Tour Mount Villanders

Beautiful panoramic summit almost exactly in the center of South Tyrol

One of the most beautiful and rewarding tours on the Villanderer Alm with dreamy views of the legendary "Pale Mountains." Summit bliss with a geographical punch included. The ideal time for this tour is from early summer to autumn. If you're a fan of the colder seasons. It's also feasible as a ski tour or with snowshoes in winter.

How to get there:

Follow the signs for hiking trail Totenkirchl No. 2, ascending to the right. On the ridge, keep left and descend slightly to the next fork in the path near an alpine hut. Turn right into path No. 2 towards Prackfiederer Jöchl. On the wide ridge, keep left following the signs for Totenkirchl and pass through a dense dwarf pine zone on a narrow mountain path always along a fence. Later, you'll cross an open ridge to the Totenrücken with a wooden cross and descend to the Totenkirchl (1,186 m). Head almost flat south to the Totensee and turn right over a rocky step, ascending steeply onto the wide grassy ridge of the Villanderer Berg. To the right, gently ascending northwest, just before the summit, descend a few meters into a saddle, and then make an easy climb to the mighty summit cross.

And did you know…?! The Villanderer Berg is the center of South Tyrol!

EURAC actually identified this summit as the geographical center of the South Tyrol region! That's why an impressive granite globe stands exactly there. It even saves you a yoga class – although, a few asanas up there are a very good idea to find your center!
